Class 1, Saskatchewan’s Mandatory Entry-Level Training (MELT) Program now available. This program came into effect on March 15, 2019. It is now required by all Saskatchewan drivers seeking a Class 1 driver’s licence. Call us now for details.

Before we get moving

- Must be a minimum of 18 years of age
- Must have Valid Saskatchewan Class 5 Licence ( NOT novice 1 or 2)
- Must have a completed approved Commercial Medical
- Class 1 A Learners Licence or working towards it
- Class 3 A Learners Licence for those taking the Class 3A course
Meet our Fleet
Our fleet includes several 13-speed and 18-speed Peterbilt tractors. We also have a variety of trailers. 48-foot and 53-foot reefer vans and High Boy flat trailers. The trailers enable hands-on teaching of load securing and safety inspections. We even have a cattle liner to round out our selection.

Class 1A Courses
Class 1 licences are as good as it gets. They are required by professional drivers and entitle them to drive power units having trailers in excess of 4,600 kg. Must be at least 18-years of age and not a novice driver. You must also be medically fit. Must have successfully graduated from Mandatory Entry-Level Training. We can train you. This course can be split up between completing the in-class portion and returning to finish the behind the wheel portion when the time suits the student.
Class 3A courses
To hold a Class 3 licence, one must be at least 18-years of age and not a novice driver. You must also be medically fit. Class 3 licences allow you to operate a vehicle with more than two axles. It allows towing, up to 4,600 kg, Operation of class 1 and 2 vehicles as a learner, with learner’s permit. 1-week program $2900 plus GST, 2-week program $5800 plus GST.
Air Brake
Air brakes are most commonly found on larger, heavy vehicles. Semi tractors generally have air brakes systems. Drivers must have an Air Brake Endorsement on their licence to drive these vehicles. Our course covers everything you need to know from the manual and, hands-on training with actual Air Brake systems. This is a 1-Day course and includes practical SGI Exam. $250 plus GST.
Class 5 courses
A Class 5 licence is the most common licence held by residents of Saskatchewan. It authorizes the operation of cars, vans, two-axle vehicles. It allows a trailer or vehicle in tow. The gross weight not exceeding 4,600 kg. We provide courses for high school students and anyone else wanting a Class 5 licence. Call us to book your course.
Road Exams
Courses include road exams. Road exams are based on whether the student has met all the required criteria set forth by SGI and per the instructor’s opinion that the individual is safe and ready to test. Road exams are not guaranteed. All road exams and retests are booked at the discretion of High Grade Truck Driving.
The Class 1A Mandatory Course includes two attempts at the road exam provided students have met the required passing grade on all class and practical modules.
All other courses include one attempt at the road exam provided students have met the required skill level. If a second test is required the truck and trailer are provided at no cost and students are responsible for the cost of the road exam.
All exams are booked through High Grade Truck Driving and provides the use of the truck and trailer.
